If you have never heard of Banksy, you must check out his work! I added link to his website in the "links" section of this photo blog. This guy's street art (some call it graffiti) is beautiful, clever, and thought provoking... I found this huge Banksy work in SOHO. It's the first one I've seen in person. I love it!

Post No. 9 School's Out for Summer!!! And, Jenga is Packed Away 'til September...
The students have been off for a few days now, but my fellow School Psychologists around the nation are probably still winding down from the busy school year. I am still in the office, finishing up what I couldn't during the final weeks of June. Most of my files are now filed away, and I'm ready to catch up on some much needed R&R and R (Rest, Relaxation, and Reading)... One thing I always miss during the summer is the laughter of the students and their comedic acts around school... and of course, a good game of jenga with 8 year olds...

Post No. 8 New Nikons Comming?
No photo for today just yet, but I had to write about the bubbling rumors of a Nikon D400, which is a full frame (Fx format) DSLR in a D300 size camera body. I've heard another name being thrown around - D10. I can't wait to upgrade to an Fx version of the D300 (or some Nikon equivalent to the Cannon 5D) and I hope that by the time I am ready, summer '09, the prices will have dropped.

Post No. 7 Working on a Sunday Evening to Stay in the Game in NYC
Gazing out of the window of our apartment, I noticed the lights on in this office across the way. I don't know what the folks over there do, but they work like dogs. Those lights are always on and people are there working - or appear to be working- every day of the week. In some ways, this photo epitomizes the dedication, desire, and yes- desperation to stay competitive in this dog-eat-dog city. If your not ahead of your competition, or your skills slip, you're done in this town! So get to work! No time to waste!

Post No. 6 Rubber Empire State Building
A beauty of a day in NYC! I saw this interesting reflection of the Empire State Building, looking north from Bryant Park. Notice how the limestone, granite, steel and glass building seems to twist and bend like rubber. Kind of like looking through a Fun House mirror...

Post No. 5 Hanging out in Union Sqare NYC
My girlfriend, Veronica and I were hanging out in Union Square, Saturday evening, when I took this shot with my Nikon D50, 50mm f/1.8. It was a beautifully humid day, with a warm, soothing breeze. Although the thunder and lightning had already begun, the hundreds of people hanging out in the park refused to leave, and continued dancing, skateboarding, listening to music and people watching... that is, until we had to seek cover when inevitable cleansing rain came.

Post No. 4 Vegging out watching a playoff basketball game
After a quick meal and some time to relax, this is how I felt while watching the game... The TV is on, but I'm not really watching... too tired... A good night's rest, and I'll be a new man!

Post No. 3 End of a looong week at work...
The workweek was a long one... By the end of the day today, I couldn't see straight and didn't want to look at another file or write up another evaluation. I put them away, locked the file drawer and headed for home in Manhattan. Problem was... traffic was atrocious so the normal 45 min. commute ended up being an epic two-hour journey...Thanks to NPR and Bloomberg Radio, at least I had an opportunity to catch up on happenings around the world... Yay Weekend!

Second Post: Another Rainy Commute in NYC
The downpour during the drive back to Manhattan a few days ago was a sight to be seen! Traffic came to a crawl/ halt, and my wipers couldn't clear the rain fast enough... While stopped at a light, I turned off the wipers, grabbed my trusty Nikon D50 50mm/ f1.8 out of my bag and snapped this shot. The effect of the water with the tail-lights of the SUV in front of me made for some interesting light patterns/ configurations.
My high-school photography teacher once said: "Always keep a camera nearby for interesting photo-ops..." - good advice

My first blog post
You won't find too much verbiage on this blog...mostly my photographs...this photo was taken on a particularly rainy morning last week on my way to work. Nikon D50- 50mm/ f1.8 - a great little lens (and super inexpensive)! Don't let the 100 dollar price fool you...
